This composition presents a fragment of red and green sandstone typical of the Triassic Mercia Mudstone Group, sourced from Ladye Bay, Clevedon, near the Bristol Channel. The artwork showcases rough, layered sandstone blocks exhibiting an interplay of iron oxide’s rich red stains and glauconite’s subtle green hues. Weathering effects appear through natural flaking and fine cracks, enhancing the pervading textural quality. The arrangement against a muted beige backdrop emphasises the geological heritage and the sedimentary narrative embedded within the stone's surfaces, evoking the ancient marine to lagoonal environments from which it originated.
